Course description

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs.  Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

Course duration

Students will have 3 blocks of supported face to face workshops and 1 week blocks of practical placement. The course duration is 12 weeks in total.

Successful completion of this course will require the completion of 13 units, this comprises of 7 core units and 6 electives. A large number of elective units are available enabling students to select elective units relevant to their field of interest.

 

Blended learning:

  • Students will have 3 blocks of supported face to face workshops and 1 week blocks of practical placement, the course duration is 9 weeks in total.

Prerequisites

Minimum age for participants is 16 years with basic English, current police check and a blue card.

 

Assessment

A combination of workbook, scenario assessment, logbook, observation and classroom discussion.

Cost

Funding is available. Taylormade First Aid Solutions Training Australia will help students to access funding, where applicable, through Certificate 3 Guarantee government funding
